$Oil, Oil Everywhere and Not a Drop To Drink (wait I can’t drink oil… I meant water) correct me if you think this is wrong… I don’t think bp wanted to shut down the oil spill. It’s not in their best interest, and that is a huge issue when you leave public services and products to private for profit entity’s. Oil is a natural product, ie. It comes from nature and logically should not be charged, and should be used less if even used. Granted I understand refinment storage and conveninence but that is not important in what I am trying to say. The thing is if there is an oil spill, bp and other companys do not pay for the oil itself really. Hence why it is so profitable. They do pay for workers refinement etc. but that is such a small fraction. So when a spill happens if it was not for the lawsuits and such (theres talks of them claiming bankruptcy which, well you know what that means kind of) since they are “losing” oil/ money the price of a barrel of oil will rise which happens in the summer as is. Now though there is a “reason”it will most likely shoot up more… and expect the next “oil crisis” If there was no public pressure on this issue, the whole thing would be a gain for them, and still will probably be. example… at least in my head. I have a water business. In the back of my house is a nice lake. There is a filter on the spout. . I am the only supplier around, and you depend on me as I live on the only source. You come and buy the water, even if you spill the water and want more I will charge you. I even hope you spill it because I will charge you and may even raise the price because I make you think there is only so much in the lake (which there is but if anything I will connect to another stream a town over or find a way to tank it in) The whole time I have the water running myself 24/7, and when the water runs low even I ask for federal assistance and your money from your taxes to cover it, though my money already comes from you. If something happens say a natural dam and I can only get part of my lake. I will tell you we needs to raise the price of the water, as we are having trouble taking care of the undamming. I’m not paying for the water anyway, and until there is a need to do it why would I take care of the dam? I’m profiting even more, your scared that there is a water shortage so you stock up at the high prices buying barrels and barrels of it. All the while the damming is hurting wildlife, and causing a drought in the area, local farmers can no longer afford to give their crops and livestock the water they need. Another time we will talk about about how since this is happening and the area is losing its value and you can no longer afford to live. You will lose your house and my formed company will buy it for pennies on the dollar. We will then fix the dam. Raise the town back up. Give new people a small wage at the water factory (we are now a factory because we distribute all over the world now). The company will also make amusements and things which we own as well. The water price will never be the same as it was either and we are still making a huge profit.$
